Has anyone sat a GIAC certification exam without SANS training? I'm specifically looking to (maybe) sit the GREM (Reverse Engineering Malware) without taking the Sans course that goes along with it. I just want a hands on, practical malware analyst certification. I'm hoping TCM's PJMR cert comes out soon which might give me a more affordable option to test my skills.
But just curious if anyone has sat any GIAC cert without shelling out the money for the course and how it went.
I know I don't necessarily need certs to prove my capabilities but. .I blame growing up playing Pokemon for the appeal of shiny digital badges.
